Over the past several weeks, I've begun to get concerned over my ability to raise all of the funds necessary to make the trip to Rwanda and Kenya.  I've been looking for work to pay for the trip and have had several unsuccessful interviews.  Being a mother of two children and running my doula practice has kept me busy, but unfortunately has also left gaps in my resume.  I posted a status on my Facebook profile about my struggles and last night at church, someone called me on it.  

The question was asked, "Did God call you to go to Africa?"  Yes, He has moved my heart to Africa since I was a child.  I closed my eyes for a moment and asked, "Jesus, what do you think about Africa?"  The first word I heard was "Yes."  I asked, "Jesus, can I trust you?"  Of course, the answer was "Yes."  

Fear has been a part of my life for a long time.  Security has always been what I have sought; but, God doesn't want us to feel secure by our own means.  He wants us to put our lives in His hands and be secure in Him...and, once we give our lives and concerns to Him, He doesn't want us to take them back.

God has called me for this mission trip and I have to trust that He will provide.  I will do what I can, but I will leave it in His hands.  Miracles happen when we believe.  May this trip be a testimony of what He can do.

"And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8 (ESV)

FUN-draising!

Hello, All!

We've been having such a wonderful time sharing our stories with all of you.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read our blog and follow us on Facebook!  We are in the process of putting together an online auction, which most likely will take place on Facebook.  We have already received a donation of four massage gift certificates from Dawn at Living Earth Massage.  I will be donating gift certificates for birth doula services, good for services in Lethbridge and surrounding areas.  Lacey has been busy making amazing crafts such as princess gowns, boy's ties and children's felt alphabet magnets.  We're looking for other Lethbridge-area businesses who may be interested in donating an item or two to help us raise funds for our mission trip. Our hope is to have the auction take place in time for you to purchase gifts for your loved ones for Valentine's Day. All Hands on Deck!

...Praying hands, that is.  We're asking you to be a part of our prayer team.  As we work hard to prepare for our mission trip, evil spirits will work hard to try to deter us from doing God's work.  Will you help us?  Areas where we could use prayer are:

• Strength - We need strength to work toward reaching our goal of serving in Rwanda and Kenya.  We also need strength to battle against negative influences that may try to shift our focus.  We need strength to handle what we will face in Africa and the sorrow and tragedy we may see.
• Health - Prayers that we are healthy as we prepare for our trip and while we are on it.  We will be doing our best to take preventative measures against the prevalent illnesses of the area with vaccinations, etc.  Please also pray for the health of our families and our fellow missionaries.
• Protection - Please pray for protection for ourselves and our fellow mission workers while we travel and are in Rwanda and Kenya as well as the protection of the loved ones we leave behind.
• Blessing - Please pray that we can be of good service and a blessing to all those we meet and work with in Africa
• Financial Miracles - We are working hard to fund raise for our trip and organize all finances necessary to be a part of this mission. Please pray for financial miracles for us so that our trip may be fully funded and any monetary burdens to be lifted.
